The story of Belmont Day School’s capital campaign, “Moving Up, Hand in Hand” is all about leadership, courage, and community. In just over a year of active solicitation, Belmont Day School (BDS) completed a $3.5 million capital campaign, with 100% participation from current parents and faculty, and significant support from alumni and former parents. Planned and executed at lightning speed, this campaign truly allowed the school to “move up” to a new level, expanded its programs into the new 7th and 8th grades, enhanced endowment, and added other major improvements to the school’s program and facilities. Because leadership engaged the community so effectively in every aspect of the campaign’s development and execution, the campaign produced far more than buildings and endowment; it genuinely deepened the school’s sense of community and created a philanthropic culture that will long endure.
